Tumblr calls themselves a microblogging platform, although we don’t think ‘micro’ is quite right. Since they are somewhere between Twitter and a normal Wordpress blog, we’d prefer to label them miniblogging… unfortunately that term doesn’t exist in the industry. You can use your personal domain name with Tumblr by following the guide within their control panel.
